The 2017 Virgin Sport British 10k
On 9 July 2017, we had over 10,000 participants and spectators take over Westminster and bring a British Street party atmosphere to central London’s famous landmarks: from Piccadilly to Whitehall through Regent Street, Trafalgar Square, the Embankment, Westminster Bridge and Westminster Abbey.
A big thank you to the Westminster Council, Olympian Rosa Mota for helping us kick off the race, Faisal Abdalla, Olga Stignii, Ana Sousa and Virgin Active for leading warm ups, cool downs and free fitness in Trafalgar Square, and all of our musicians and DJs: Andy Lewis, Not the Rolling Stones, The Vox Beatles, Military Brass Band, The Vixens, Itchy Feet DJs, Raf Cadets, Funster, Sax for Fun, North London Brass, South London Samba, and Drumworks. A huge thank you to our partners YourPhysioPlan for providing pre-race taping and post-race massages, Lucozade for the hydration stations, Gett for providing our lead car – a London black cab, our lovely dream team of pacers from London’s finest running crews, all of our volunteers and of course, the spectators.
Together, we shut down Westminster and turned it into a British Street Party, a day where the normal hustle and bustle of London was transformed into a moving party of thousands of people running, cheering, laughing and moving.
In a world where everyone is so busy or tied to their routine - here’s to many days of celebrating and moving with others through sport!
Next up: Virgin Sport Oxford on 8 October and Virgin Sport San Francisco on 13-15 October – and we just launched registration for Virgin Sport Hackney 2018.
